This Crock Pot Steak and Gravy recipe is for anyone who needs to be able to throw dinner together in the morning, and who only has about ten minutes to devote to that task. Don’t you just love knowing you can go about your day and not have to worry about what kind of meal you’re going to scrounge up at five o’clock?
I really, really do. I also love coming home from work to a house that smells amazing. I seriously never get tired of walking through the door to a waft of yummy smells that Morning Me lovingly prepared for Evening Me. Sometimes Evening Me returns the favor by setting the coffee maker for Morning Me.
This dish isn’t fancy, but my kids loved it. My five-year-old loved the gravy so much, the next morning she wanted a bowl of it for breakfast.
She said, “Can I have some of that yummy stuff from dinner?”
I smiled. “You want steak for breakfast?”
“No,” she clarified, “just the sauce.”
I gave her a spoonful of gravy, and then a bowl of cereal, because if I can’t eat gravy by the bowl then she can’t either.
We had ours with mashed potatoes and a salad, and I will be making this simple recipe again. Maybe I’ll double the gravy for my girl next time.

I am a sucker for the easy, minimum ingredient, no prep Crock Pot recipes. This recipe fits this to a tee. I let this cook about 9 hours, and the tender meat in the yummy gravy was perfect. We had ours with mashed potatoes, and it really tasted good, It made a good quantity, and will be great left over.

This was awesome and easy! A total make again! Make this!
Me
Our gravy was a little thin, but it was easily thickened up with some cornstarch. If you want to shave a few minutes off of the already ridiculously easy preparation, throw the meat in unsliced. It will be fork tender after cooking all day anyway!

Super delicious!!
FYI for those who are experiencing thin gravy, it’s going to depend on which brand of gravy mix you use. McCormick Brown Gravy Mix (.87 oz) and uses corn starch as a thickener, while Pioneer Brown Gravy Mix is almost twice the amount (1.61 oz) and uses wheat flour as a thickener. I didn’t notice this until later and followed the directions using the 2 1/2 cups of water called for in the recipe, but used 2 packets of Pioneer Brown Gravy Mix instead of 2 packets of McCormick Brown Gravy Mix. I was actually using almost twice the amount of gravy mix. My gravy came out thicker, in fact I added a bit of water in the end to thin the gravy to our desired thickness. I also added a large Spanish onion. sliced, and 3 large russet potatoes, cut in 1 inch chunks. I’ll be making this again for sure, using Pioneer Brown Gravy Mix again, and probably 3 to 3 1/2 cups of water.
