Every Thursday, my mother-in-law, three sisters-in-law, and I make the same slow cooker recipe for dinner. We call it Crock Pot Thursday (clever, no?) and take turns choosing the recipe. Since our family is flung far and wide, this is our way of sharing a meal once a week.
As it is with recipes, we sometimes make small modifications based on tastes, time, and pantry contents, and we often discuss our individual results. It’s fun to have someone else choose my family’s meal for a night, and now you can play, too! I’ll be sharing the previous week’s recipe every Thursday, and giving tips based on our feedback.
I’d love to hear your feedback on any of the recipes you try!
If you look at our picks, you’ll see that we are a family of carnivores. We have a few meatless dishes, but they are the exception, not the rule. If you are a vegan, you are probably breaking some sort of rule just by reading this. Even when we choose a vegetarian dish as our week’s recipe choice, at least one family member goes rogue and adds some sort of meat to appease the men in our lives.
As it is, those boys complain every time we choose a soup. They say soup is fine, just not as a main dish.
They are wrong.
I know meal planning can be a chore, and slapping something together for dinner after a long day is the worst. Firing up your Crock Pot will make your house smell amazing, and give you extra time in the evening. Trust me, you’ll love it.
