Crock Pot Cream Cheese Chicken

Throw this easy crockpot chicken recipe in the slow cooker in the morning, and you'll be dining on this delicious crockpot cream cheese chicken for dinner!

I love cream cheese. LOVE it. I try not to eat too much of it though, mostly because society says I have to wear pants, and if I ate as much cream cheese as I want to, I wouldn’t have any pants that fit.

This Crock Pot Cream Cheese recipe could have just been chicken covered in cream cheese, and I would have been licking the bowl. It was rich and delicious, as I knew it would be, and even my cream cheese hating brother-in-law liked this one.

Did you know there are people in this world who don’t like cream cheese? Crazy, right? I have another brother-in-law who doesn’t like chicken, which proves I married into a bunch of weirdos.

I used my 6.5-Quart Crock-Pot Programmable Touchscreen Slow Cooker to make this Crock Pot Cream Cheese Chicken.

CROCK POT CREAM CHEESE CHICKEN

INGREDIENTS

1 medium onion, chopped
2 to 3 libs boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
1 (2/3 ounce) package Italian salad dressing mix
4 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 cup water
8 ounces cream cheese

DIRECTIONS

Place the chopped onion in the bottom of the slow cooker.
Place chicken on top of the onion, and sprinkle Italian seasoning and minced garlic over chicken.
Pour water over chicken.
Cook on low for 5-7 hours.
Add the cream cheese and mix in, shredding the chicken while you’re at it.
Serve immediately, or keep on warm until ready to serve.

FEEDBACK

Sarah

This was so good! I love a good and easy crock and this totally makes the cut! I did make one change and that was instead of adding an Italian seasoning packet and water, I just added 3 tbsp of Italian salad dressing. I would do this next time too… It was great! Our family served with mashed potatoes and we all (even my 2 year old) thought it was great. I should also mention that my husband HATES cream cheese and normally I would substitute for sour cream but I decided to stick with the heart of the recipe and he didn’t even notice! (Note: Sarah cooked it for 4 hours on low for the first step and another hour after adding the final ingredients.)

This recipe is most definitely not fancy, but it is GOOD. The creamy gravy is so perfect with mashed potatoes. I didn’t change anything, except that I cut up the chicken about half way through to help soak up some flavor (and I forgot to add the Italian seasoning until way late, but it still turned out great). My family loved it.

Me

We served our Crock Pot Cream Cheese Chicken with rice one night and mashed potatoes the next. My husband preferred the rice while I liked the mashed potatoes.

  1. Made this for supper tonight and it was excellent! I don’t keep any Italian dressing mix on hand so I just put in some of my own dried herbs to equal the amount from the package. At first I only put half of the cream cheese in because I thought it sounded like a lot, but I’m so glad I put the other half in because it was the perfect amount of cheese! I saved most of the cooking liquid for another use. We just had it with salad because we are low-carbing it.
