This morning I happily shared my 3rd grade daughter’s corn muffin and my 5th grade son’s blueberry muffin at Muffins with Mom even though I really wanted a coffeecake muffin, because the muffins were huge and we certainly didn’t need three.
That’s what moms do.
We share our water even though several reminders were given for the kids to bring their own.
We lie awake at night carrying the worries of our children so they might sleep peacefully.
We literally give our bodies to bring our kids into the world and sustain them.
Our purses are full of rocks and crayons and small, stray socks.
Our faces are lined from worry and laughter.
Our hearts are full of love and gratitude.
We know how lucky we are to be given the opportunity to devote ourselves to our children, and we remind ourselves that the hard jobs are the most rewarding.
Today my kids grabbed whatever muffin they like, but hopefully one day they’ll get the chance to nibble happily on their third choice muffin in the company of their first choice kids.
Love it! So sweet!
